II. Our trivial pursuits: God warns us against wasting our lives on trivial pursuits - Eccl. 12:12
A. Enlightenment: To know something - Eccl. 1:7
B. Pleasure: To enjoy something - Eccl. 2:1-3
C. Vocation: To do something - Eccl. 2:4
D. Materialism: To have something - Eccl. 2:7-8

III. Our ultimate purpose: God invites us to know and serve Him eternally - Eccl. 12:13

IV. Our eternal preparation: God gives us life as a preparation for eternity - Eccl. 12:14
