How to Pray
Matthew 6:9-15

I. Come boldly to the throne of Grace - 6:9, 13b "Our Father in heaven...yours is the kingdom, power and glory. Amen"
A. Our family: We belong to the community of faith. "Our..."
B. Our Father: We have personal relationship with God. "Our Father..."
C. Our freedom: We speak directly and humbly to the sovereign of the universe. "Our Father in heaven..."
D. Our future: We will share in the reign of God forever. "Yours is the kingdom, power and glory..."

II. Seek the glory of God above all else - 6:9-10, 13b. "Your name...your kingdom...your will"
A. "Your name:" Declare His unique place in our hearts that He deserves. "Your name be honored as holy"
B. "Your kingdom:" Embrace His message and reign in the world. "Your kingdom come"
C. "Your will:" Surrender to His divine purpose as those in heaven do. "Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven"

III. Bring your needs directly to Him - 6:11-15. "...give us...forgive us...deliver us..."
A. We need provisions for daily living. "give us today our daily bread" - 6:11
B. We need pardon for spiritual failure. "forgive us our debts as we also forgive others" - 6:12, 14-15.
C. We need protection from the evil one. "...do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us..." - 6:13a
