In Remembrance of Me
1 Corinthians 11:23-32
I. A Meal of Remembrance: This symbolic act honors the sacrifice offered for our sin. "Do this in remembrance of me" - 11:24, 25
When we look back at that night, what do we remember?
A. It was a night for bread.
B. It was a night of betrayal.
C. It was a night tainted with boasting.
D. It was a night of burden.
II. A Message of Redemption: This simple act proclaims the Gospel of Jesus. "You proclaim the Lord's death until he comes" - 11:26
Embedded in that phrase we find the full scope of the Gospel.
A. The Past: The Gospel came through the 'Lord's death."
B. The Present: We proclaim the Gospel to all people.
C. The Promise: Our Lord is coming for His own.
III. A Moment of Reflection: This sacred act calls us to renew our spirit. "A person should examine himself." - 11:28
